Frequently asked questions.

Why does KRR not allow big weddings like in the past?

We cherish the hundreds of couples who celebrated the start of their lives together at King River Ranch, and yes, quite a few of those were very lavish and often enormous affairs. The number of large and small weddings we hosted at the ranch grew 25% year upon year, a testament to the perfection of this property as a place of celebration, knowing every couple loved every bit of it. But due to the global Covid pandemic, we were forced to shudder our doors for nearly a year, and the owner and his sons left for Los Angeles to tend to elderly family during the lengthy quarantine. After large gatherings were again safe, the staff necessary to host hundreds of guests again on-site was simply not tenable, while maintaining our standards of excellence. Therefore, we have opted to host smaller and shorter affairs that are easier to manage. Our last large wedding hosted at KRR was November, 2024, and it was, of course, a joyous success.

Can we rent out the whole property?

Whereas before Fall 2024, when we rented the entire property to our clients, we now will be renting out each part separately. Micro-weddings have access to the River Terrace, Hair/Make-up & Dressing Salon, riverside public restrooms, and various outdoor photo locations. Overnight stays include the River Cottage (3,000 sq. ft.) and the Honeymoon Suite (600 sq. ft.) and may only be rented together. The King Barn is rented hourly (4 hour minimum) and includes vendor and attendee parking. Great care will be taken that client activities will not overlap, and we will make sure intimate affairs remain intimate. Pricing may vary due to off-season, mid-week, and holidays.

Where are you located exactly?

We are fortuitously located on the Texas Wine Trail (Hwy 290) near the historic town of Hye and boast such esteemed neighbors as the Lyndon B. Johnson Family Ranch and acclaimed William Chris Winery. We are conveniently located 40 minutes to both Austin and San Antonio city limits, and 20 minutes to Fredericksburg.

How is the parking?

Our public and vendor parking areas can comfortably accommodate up to 100 cars with overflow areas available. Parking areas are easily accessible to every part of the ranch, making load-in and load-out very easy at the river and the barn.

Can I bring my fur baby?

We welcome your four-legged family members, which sometimes has included horses, donkeys and lamas. Whether a wedding or vacation, it just wouldn’t be the same without them. Just make sure they are leashed, monitored, and to clean up the presents they leave! Overnight clients’ pets, or large animals, may incur additional charges and/or deposits, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

How does payment work?

Overnight guests must book their stay through either Airbnb or VRBO (links found on LODGING webpage). Micro-weddings and King Barn rentals must be paid in full if booked within 8 weeks of the event date. Otherwise, a 50% deposit is required at the time of signing of the contract to remove a date and time from the calendar. The remaining 50% is due 8 weeks prior to the event date. Cancellations are reimbursed 50% of any deposits paid if cancelled more than 8 weeks from the event. If cancellation occurs less than 8 weeks from the event, all deposits are not refundable. The client is responsible for the entire payment detailed in the contract if cancellation is made within 4 weeks of the event date. Payments may be made by certified or personal check, Zelle, Venmo, or direct wire transfer. Credit Card payments incur an additional 3% fee.
